Keep the reporting destination you already use
Consider Supermetrics if you want marketing data in a reporting destination you already use. Reproduce an existing spreadsheet or dashboard with your actual accounts and fields. Match the dates and refresh needs too.
For Data Studio, the vendor documents connecting sources through its Hub and choosing a shared or private connection; required permissions vary by source. Confirm who can authorize each account and who will maintain the connection when staff or client access changes. Read the connection guide.
Check freshness in the destination
Test refresh behavior in the tool your team uses. Supermetrics says Data Studio’s data-freshness setting has no effect on its connectors: actions such as loading or refreshing a report or updating an element trigger data retrieval. This describes Data Studio; check the behavior of your sources and other destinations. See the freshness guidance.
Check the age and completeness of a few important metrics against the source platform, including after the report has been left alone. Ask how the chosen plan handles scheduled refreshes and access. Check how it reports failures in your destination.
Plan the handoff and the quote
A report that works under one person’s login can become awkward when that person leaves. The vendor’s transfer guide describes granting the new report owner access to edit the connection, then replacing the account login if needed. The new owner needs an assigned Data Studio subscription and access to the relevant sources and connections. Ownership transfer also requires the same email domain; otherwise, copying may be necessary. Test a handoff with a colleague before making it part of your regular reporting. Read the transfer guide.
Ask for a quote naming the data sources and accounts you need. Include destinations, users and refresh options for today and as you grow. If you want a ready-made client portal, compare a client-reporting workspace too.
