The short answer
- Consider Coupler.io if scheduled imports and destination limits fit your reporting workflow.
- Consider Porter Metrics if marketing reporting fits your needs, and resolve its conflicting BigQuery guidance before choosing.
- Consider Windsor.ai if its source, account and destination-task allowances fit your portfolio.
- Stay with Supermetrics if its documented Looker Studio refresh behavior and your existing reports meet your needs.
Coupler.io
Start here if you want scheduled imports into an existing reporting workflow. Count accounts and destinations before comparing the entry plan.
Coupler.io lists Starter at $32 monthly or $24 per month billed annually, with three accounts, one destination and daily refresh. Pro lists fifty accounts, unlimited destinations and hourly refresh; the custom tier lists fifteen-minute refresh.
Coupler.io explains its import modes: Replace overwrites previously imported data, while Append adds entries and preserves prior records. Refresh can run on a schedule or through incoming and outgoing webhooks.
For example, an agency with four connected accounts exceeds Starter’s three-account allowance. Check the eligible plan and test how an updated source record behaves under the import mode you choose. A preserved row alone does not prove that corrections or duplicates are handled as you expect.
Porter Metrics
Investigate Porter Metrics if your agency needs marketing reporting and wants to decide between direct queries and stored data. Price the connected accounts you actually use.
Porter Metrics describes direct connectors as calling platform APIs, while BigQuery stores data for downstream reporting. Its comparison calls the BigQuery connector a separate custom-priced product unavailable on the free plan.
Porter Metrics pricing guidance instead says BigQuery is available for testing on free with thirty days of data, or under custom Enterprise. It excludes BigQuery from paid Reporting plans. The same table lists thirteen to twenty connected accounts at a flat $100 monthly.
Porter Metrics also describes free users writing to their own BigQuery project with a thirty-day window. The pages have no visible dates showing which guidance supersedes the other. Confirm current eligibility and the exact history available before relying on a free test.
Windsor.ai
Compare Windsor.ai when account volume and refresh tasks matter to the report. Check all the allowances together, including the refresh interval.
Windsor.ai lists Basic with three sources and seventy-five accounts, plus five destination tasks and daily task refresh. Standard lists seven sources and hourly or daily task refresh. Its forever-free limits after trial are one source and one account.
Windsor.ai explains its cache: an identical Connector URL receives a cached response for six hours, and manual clearing is allowed once every two hours. Scheduled refreshes bypass that query cache and fetch fresh source data at the configured interval.
Compare a scheduled refresh with a manual query during your trial. The configured interval does not prove when the source platform makes new data available, so check the source timestamp alongside the report.
Compare the constraints
Use the same portfolio and reporting deadline for each quote. A plan’s account allowance does not answer how quickly every source will supply new data.
| Product | Counting unit or allowance | Refresh or storage question |
|---|---|---|
| Coupler.io | Starter: three accounts and one destination | Daily refresh on Starter |
| Porter Metrics | Thirteen to twenty connected accounts: $100 monthly | Confirm conflicting free BigQuery eligibility |
| Windsor.ai | Basic: three sources and seventy-five accounts | Five destination tasks; daily task refresh |

When to stay with Supermetrics
Stay if the existing connector covers your required accounts and fields, and the report refresh meets the client deadline. A migration has a cost even when a different allowance looks attractive.
Supermetrics Looker Studio guidance says the Data Studio freshness setting has no effect on its connectors. Loading or refreshing a report, or changing elements, triggers retrieval. Test that behavior against the source timestamp and your actual report.
Before switching, inventory the fields behind one client report and reproduce its totals in the candidate. Check ownership of the connection and keep a copy of the finished report. The Supermetrics product notes provide further context; the switching guide helps plan the move.
Common questions
Which Supermetrics alternative is best for an agency?
If scheduled imports fit your workflow, investigate Coupler.io. If source and account allowances are the constraint, compare Windsor.ai. Test the same report and deadline in each.
Does Coupler.io preserve previously imported records?
Coupler.io says Append adds entries while preserving prior records. Test corrections and duplicates for your destination.
Is Porter Metrics BigQuery access free?
Porter Metrics connector guidance says it is unavailable on free, while its pricing help describes free testing with thirty days of data. Confirm current eligibility.
How often does Windsor.ai refresh data?
Windsor.ai lists daily task refresh on Basic and hourly or daily task refresh on Standard. Source availability can still affect freshness.
Should I switch from Supermetrics?
Switch only if another connector meets the fields and deadlines your client reports need. Rebuild one report and compare its totals before moving the rest.
