## The short answer

- Consider Clearscope when many writers and reviewers need access to content work.
- Essentials lists $129 monthly with separate tracked-query and page allowances.
- Google Docs work requires a shared draft link; the draft-list CSV is a metadata inventory.
- Consider Frase for its CMS publishing route or Surfer for its WordPress workflow.

## Price the work and the access

Start with the work your team expects to complete each month. Unlimited users can make collaboration easier, but the production calendar still needs to fit the plan.

[Clearscope Essentials](https://www.clearscope.io/pricing) lists $129 monthly for 50 tracked queries and 50 pages, with 20 monthly discoveries/drafts. Every Clearscope plan lists unlimited users and projects, with content sharing and exporting.

For example, an agency can include writers and reviewers without making seat count the sole constraint. Map its expected discoveries and drafts to the allowance before selecting the plan.

Record the pages the team needs to monitor and the queries that matter to its clients. Ask how the proposed plan handles a month when the work exceeds its allowance.

Clearscope’s pricing FAQ says monthly plans have no minimum contract and can be cancelled without penalty. Read the terms that apply to your order before choosing a billing arrangement.

## Set the writer handoff

Agree who can access the draft before inviting an outside writer. The convenience of editing in Google Docs depends on both account permissions and link sharing.

[Clearscope’s Google Docs instructions](https://www.clearscope.io/support/how-do-i-use-the-google-docs-integration) require a desktop browser, permission to install the add-on, document editing rights and a shared Clearscope draft link. People with the link can access the draft.

Use a permitted test document with the role an external writer will actually have. Follow the assignment from sharing through editor review and decide who removes access when work ends.

Check whether the Workspace administrator allows the add-on before building the process around it. Your sharing policy should cover the people who receive the draft link.

An editor can then compare the finished copy with the brief and source material. Record the revisions needed to make the handoff useful, rather than treating the tool’s score as a quality verdict.

## Save the content body before leaving

Keep a usable copy of each article separately from its inventory. A list of draft metadata helps locate work but does not by itself demonstrate a full article export.

[Clearscope’s draft-list export](https://www.clearscope.io/support/how-do-i-export-my-content-reports-list) covers up to the first 5,000 drafts and includes the query and locale alongside the editor URL and grading metadata.

Open a sample of the CSV and match it to the original drafts. Save the content bodies separately, including the formatting your team needs, and try importing them into the intended destination.

Assign an owner to the archive before closing an account. Keep each live page’s URL with its saved content so the next editor can reconcile the record with the published version.

If the inventory contains more drafts than the documented limit, decide how the remainder will be captured. Confirm the available export route before relying on a migration date.

## Use a common editorial trial

Compare the products on a real editorial task, with the same brief and acceptance criteria. Include an existing article refresh and a new draft.

Ask an editor to review factual claims and whether each draft answers its intended reader. Record editing time and the revisions needed before publication.

Follow the writer handoff through to the place where the article will be published. Check who can approve changes and save an archive of the resulting work.

The [software trial guide](https://quillwell.com/guides/software-trial/) helps turn those observations into a repeatable decision. Keep the trial results with the quote and name an owner for unresolved questions.

## How to compare the alternatives

Consider Frase if its seat and site limits fit your team and CMS publishing matters. [Frase Starter](https://www.frase.io/pricing) lists a publishing route to Webflow.

Consider Surfer when its WordPress route suits your approval process. [Surfer’s WordPress guide](https://docs.surferseo.com/en/articles/9071075-how-to-export-content-between-surfer-and-wordpress) says new exports create drafts, while updates to published posts become visible immediately.

The [Surfer alternatives comparison](https://quillwell.com/guides/compare/surfer-alternatives/) compares these choices for a Surfer buyer. The [content optimization buying guide](https://quillwell.com/guides/content-optimization-software/) provides a shared workload and publishing worksheet.
