## The short answer

- Choose the measurement question first: attribution credit describes recorded activity, while causal lift needs a separate test.
- [Dreamdata’s BigQuery V2 guide](https://docs.dreamdata.io/article/igio0e36f0-bigquery-nev) describes a shared dataset add-on; test an independent copy.
- [HockeyStack’s tracking guide](https://docs.hockeystack.com/technical-details/tracking/how-does-tracking-work) says declining cookies disables website tracking.
- Compare the same synthetic journey and secure export access before a source is disconnected.

## Choose the measurement question

Decide whether you need a credit rule, a reconstructed journey or evidence of causal lift. Each question needs different evidence, and a polished report can obscure a missing event.

[Dreamdata’s model overview](https://docs.dreamdata.io/article/tycc6odb2v-attribution-model) describes six attribution models and Enterprise custom models. Its [influence guide](https://docs.dreamdata.io/article/hgzsb56i8k-influenced-vs-attributable-leads-and-value) distinguishes influenced leads from credit divided by the chosen model. A lead touched by two campaigns can appear in both influence totals.

Use the same outcome and lookback window in both trials. Explain how each report assigns credit, then inspect the events behind it. Neither vendor’s chart alone proves that a campaign caused the outcome.

If the decision is whether an intervention creates incremental lift, plan a causal test. Attribution can still help describe the journeys captured by the systems.

## Trace what reaches the journey

Test collection and identity matching with known fixtures before comparing credit. Separate missing events from events that arrived but were not matched.

[HockeyStack’s tracking guide](https://docs.hockeystack.com/technical-details/tracking/how-does-tracking-work) says its script collects interactions and form emails with device data. Its default identifiers do not use cookies, but declining cookies disables website tracking. Run both consent outcomes and record which events appear.

[Dreamdata’s LinkedIn Ads guide](https://docs.dreamdata.io/article/dx494qbfte-linked-in-ads-integration) describes aggregated company engagement windows. Low-volume metrics may be suppressed, and historical event dates may be approximated. A company-level aggregate is different from a precise observation of a named person’s exposure.

For example, create a synthetic account with an anonymous visit followed by an identified contact and an offline call. Trace each event to the CRM stage and then into each product. Keep the inputs and expected sequence in the worksheet.

## Reconcile a closed report

Agree on a cutoff and save the report with its settings. A later refresh can answer a different question if identity or configuration changes.

[Dreamdata’s history guide](https://docs.dreamdata.io/article/22uclfrmon-understanding-changes-in-historic-reporting-of-attribution) says historical attribution can change when anonymous events become identified or event configuration changes. Save the model, date range and CRM stage with the closed-period snapshot.

[Dreamdata’s modelling schedule](https://docs.dreamdata.io/article/rnkjup6a7v-data-modelling-schedule) says debugger events can appear within minutes while reports may take up to 24 hours. Warehouse updates follow modelling. Compare snapshots at a consistent point rather than assuming that a visible event has reached the report.

Repeat the same close-and-refresh exercise in HockeyStack. Record what changed and whether the source events explain it. The available documentation does not provide a matched timing benchmark for the two products.

## Test the warehouse and the exit

A warehouse connection is useful only if the fields and access meet your reporting and retention needs. Make an independent copy and inspect it before relying on it as an archive.

[Dreamdata’s BigQuery V2 guide](https://docs.dreamdata.io/article/igio0e36f0-bigquery-nev) describes an add-on for Team, Business and Enterprise. It shares a dataset into a customer project with project permissions and named query identities. Test copying and query access under the intended account.

[HockeyStack’s Snowflake guide](https://docs.hockeystack.com/integrations/analytics-and-data-warehouse/snowflake) describes a configured export of raw actions or stage data. It starts with a historical backfill and typically continues daily. Its scope depends on export type and does not prove a complete backup.

[Dreamdata’s retention policy](https://docs.dreamdata.io/article/daz3uwwaiu-data-retention) says data from a disconnected source is deleted after 30 days. HockeyStack’s post-termination export and retention window remains unresolved. Obtain access and retention terms before ending either connection.

[Dreamdata’s migration guide](https://docs.dreamdata.io/article/8wspwy9h7o-migration-of-historical-web-tracking-data) describes a HockeyStack CSV import through storage. Reconcile dates and fields in the destination; a documented route alone does not prove a complete transfer.

## Compare the order and handoff

Price the actual workload and include warehouse access in the order. Keep unknown fees separate from the subscription figure until each vendor quotes your setup.

[HockeyStack’s main pricing page](https://www.hockeystack.com/pricing) directs buyers to a consultation. Figures on its [academy page](https://academy.hockeystack.com/pricing) have unresolved freshness and are historical leads, not current prices.

[HockeyStack’s master services agreement](https://www.hockeystack.com/msa-terms) describes MTU true-ups using a trailing three-month average and automatic renewal absent 30-day written notice. The actual order governs capacity and term; review it alongside the quote.

[HockeyStack’s Salesforce Sync guide](https://docs.hockeystack.com/integrations/crms/salesforce/salesforce-sync-hockeystack-to-salesforce-push) says new activation of the touchpoint object was disabled from December 25, 2025. Verify the objects available to your deployment before promising a Salesforce handoff.

Dreamdata’s billing unit and the cost of its BigQuery add-on are not specified in the pages reviewed. Request terms for the intended plan and retain a copy with the trial results.

## Run the same journey and exit worksheet

Run this exercise in both products with identical synthetic inputs. Record the expected outcome before inspecting the reports.
